Why You Need a Motherhood Session

The bond between mother and child is unlike any other, one that can be beautifully captured with a camera. But if you’re anything like me, you’re always the one behind the camera and hardly ever in the photos. Even when we had our family photos professionally taken, I was always too busy worrying about everyone else. I didn’t enjoy those sessions because I was so stressed about them….this is why you need a Motherhood Session.

A funny but not so funny little story of why I am very passionate about being in the photos. When I had my daughter of course like any new parent I was head over heals in love with this new baby. We were taking pictures like crazy with our little 110 film camera! (who knows what that is?!). So many photos, grandparents with her, uncles, aunts, friends, her dad…but me I got 1 photo in the hospital and I guess in the excitement of the new baby going home – my husband cut my head out of the shot. No cell phone or digital camera to know you messed up. You had to wait to take the film in and then a week or more to get it back. THIS is my one photo with my daughter…cue crying face!!! Anyone could be her mom – right!?

No Regrets!

My biggest regret I have raising my kids is not being in photos with them! I have maybe 3 family photos we did professionally, and LOTS of photos of just my kids. I thought that’s what was important. Don’t get me wrong – that’s also VERY important but so is being in the photo with them! I always thought I was overweight, what I would give to be that size again! I thought my hair was a mess, nope doesn’t matter, no makeup nope not an excuse! No nice clothes to wear – it doesn’t matter!! Your kids will never look back and say I wish my mom wouldn’t have taken these with us she looks terrible. They will look back they will say look at my mom!! They may laugh at the out of date clothes but they will be so happy to have the photos. These photos are where they will see I have my moms nose or eyes. It’s SO important not just for you but for generations to come! You better believe I’m in photos with my grandson now!! We take selfies, we have people take our photos when we’re out, I exist in photos with him!

Today is the day to capture memories with your children, regardless of where you or your kids are in life. Trust me, you will never regret taking photos with your children. I know first hand you will regret if you don’t!

Motherhood Sessions

So this is why I have come to realize how important Motherhood photo sessions are. I will be adding Motherhood Sessions to my regular session offerings in January! These sessions will be simple with the focus on you and your children. The bond you share and love between you! It is a simple white background if you choose the studio or a beautiful field if we go outdoors. You don’t have to worry about what to wear – I have a studio wardrobe! No worrying about hair and makeup – that will be taken care of also! You only need to come and be present with your kids. Snuggle them, tell them you love them, read them a book or sing their favorite song. These sessions are meant to capture your journey of Motherhood.

I love that Mommy and Me portrait photography is intimate and sweet with very little fuss. These sessions don’t take very long and will free up your schedule to spend more quality time together. These sessions provide a space where those natural interactions and emotions can play out, resulting in a mini time capsule of your current relationship.  You might even want to make this an annual tradition so that you can beautifully document the relationship with your children. 

I will be offering a limited number of these sessions held on August 17th. This will be special pricing for these first limited sessions. Once I add them to the Session offering the price will be much higher. This would make a great gift for a mama that needs a little boost also!

The session cost will be $250 for 10 digital images, upgrade to the full gallery of 20-25 images for an additional $125. The sessions will be 15-20 minutes, and you will arrive early to get ready. I will be getting in touch with you before your session to talk about wardrobe and sizing. I have a limited wardrobe and sizing but will do my best to accommodate everyone!
